Opinions on CMS

What is your favorite CMS?
It does not have to be ColdFusion based, it can be PHP or .NET or whatever else.

Why is it your favorite?

I have tried several and run into a couple of issues:
1. Templates - it seems that many CMS are based on a template system and it is hard to make a custom design work with them
2. Overly complex for the end-user - I don't want to have to tell my clients to go to the book store and buy a 400 page book to figure out how to use the CMS.
3. Easily extensible - easy to add custom modules and programming

Because of the issues above, I have developed my own CMS. It is pretty basic compared to most of the options out there but it is easy to use and gets the job done(in my opinion). I can easily plug it into any design that my design team comes up with.

Don Bellamy's Gravatar Hands down for php the 2 best (imho) are:

Silverstripe - http://www.silverstripe.org and
Concrete5 - http://www.concrete5.org

Both are very simple and straight forward to use while hiding all the unnecessary complexities from the end users.

Tony Garcia's Gravatar For CFML, I'm really loving Mura CMS. The templating is super flexible. I recently converted a static site to run on Mura and the site looks EXACTLY like it used to when it wasn't on a CMS, which shows how flexible it can be. It's architecture also enables you to integrate custom code very easily (using plugins and display objects).

For php, I've done a few Joomla sites. While Joomla allows you to get site up very quickly and there are a ton of extensions available, I found it difficult to customize (although others with more knowledge of php and the Joomla "framework" than me may not find it that difficult). I'd say if you're going to go the php route, to check out ModX or Silverstripe.

Jim Priest's Gravatar Guess it depends on your definition of "CMS" but I'd throw WordPress into that ring. Very flexible, user friendly and easy to setup. I've got 3-4 sites setup for wife and family members...

Jeff Pierson's Gravatar @Tony - that is great to hear that Mura is so flexible and extensible. I really need to take a look into soon as I could start leveraging it immediately.

I like the idea of sticking with a CF based solution as it will be easier and more productive for me to make changes/customizations on the CF platform. I am going to check out some of the other options recommended as they might be a good fit for some sites.
